The Iraqi Interior Ministry has denied news circulated about transferring information of nine million Iraqis, who have national cards, to Iran.
In a statement, the ministry described such information as untrue, adding that information cannot be transferred and that the databases are protected by more than one smart firewall, which prevents accessing them and getting information.
“At the time while media channels and its privacy are being respected, the ministry refuses resentment by these channels which spread false news that harm the security and service system,” the statement added. It indicated its right to sue whoever violates the provisions of media work.
Leaked information indicated that data of nine million Iraqis, for whom national cards were issued, were transferred to Iran under the rule of former Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi and former Interior Minister Qasim al-Araji.
