Turkey to open four consulates in Iraq, pledges $5m for Iraq reconstruction

Turkey's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hami Aksoy has announced that his country is planning the reopening its consulates in Mosul and Basra throughout 2019.

In a press statement in Ankara, Aksoy further added that Turkey will open two consulates in Kirkuk and Najaf.

He also added that Ankara has pledged $5 million for the reconstruction of Iraq.

“Efforts are continuing for the opening of the Ovaköy Border crossing with Iraq,” Askoy added. “Trade relations between the two countries will greatly improve after the opening of the border crossing.”

“By opening our consulates in Mosul, Basra, Kirkuk, and Najaf, we continue our approach of embracing all areas and people of Iraq,” Aksoy added.
