Iraq's top officials agree to postpone gov't completion: MP

presidencies

Binna'a Coalition MP Mithaq al-Hamedi said on Thursday that a high-level meeting between the Iraq's president, prime minister, and parliament speaker agreed to postpone the completion of the government until the next legislative term.

The three officials agreed on Wednesday to adjourn the completion of the government formation in order to enable the political blocs to finalize the law of the 2019 budget, Hamedi said, describing the budget law as "the most important joint file in the work of the state."

Parliamentary finance committee member Mahasen Hamdoun on Wednesday said that the national budget law for the year 2019 will be finalized and submitted to the parliament within ten days.

The finance committee is still discussing the law of the general budget with the relevant governmental committee, Hamdoun said, adding that no decision has been taken yet to change the articles of the budget law.
