National Coalition head Ayad Allawi called on the
political forces in Kirkuk to set aside their disputes, warning of the
worsening situation in the disputed areas.
"We have always warned of the worsening situation in the disputed areas, especially the province of Kirkuk, and we stressed the need to launch an urgent national dialogue to find solutions to the situation there, fearing that crime and terrorist gangs may exploit any political confusion to return the province to square one," Allawi said.
Allawi condemned the assassination of Abdul Jabbar Rashid, a leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Kirkuk, urging the security authorities to be aware of the plans and attempts that aim to incite strife among people of the province.
