Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has highlighted the importance of the de-escalation in military operations in Yemen and adhering to the agreements made last month during talks in Sweden, within United Nations peace efforts to the end the conflict.
The Crown Prince's remarks came during a meeting with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Riyadh within a tour to the Middle East.
After the meeting, the US embassy in Riyadh tweeted, “Regarding the situation in Yemen, we have agreed on the need for continued de-escalation and adherence to the agreements reached in Sweden, especially the cease-fire and redeployment in Hudaydah."
The US State Department said Pompeo highlighted the importance of a political solution in Yemen, during his talks with Saudi officials during his visit to Saudi Arabia on Sunday.
During the meeting, both parties agreed on the necessity of putting an end to the Iranian regime's malign activity and to advance peace, prosperity, and security through the region, according to the statement.
Talks further tackled the strategic partnership between the United States and Saudi Arabia, as well as regional issues of mutual concerns.
