Military officials killed, wounded as Houthis target parade in Yemen’s Lahj

Houthis in Yemen

A drone by Iran-backed Houthis militias targeted on Thursday a military parade for the Yemeni army in Lahj province, leaving people killed and injured, sources said.

The drone, according to the sources, targeted the parade, which was carried out in a training military base in Lahj. A huge number of local and military leaders were there.

Among the attendees were Maj. Gen. Ahmed Abdullah al-Turki, vice-chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces in the province, the sources said referring that the attack left casualties.

Senior military officials in the province, located south of Yemen, were among the wounded.

Journalist Nabil al-Qu’eity, from inside the military base, said the drone appeared above the platform on which senior officials were sitting at around 9:30, when it exploded almost 300 meters away from the parade place. It was going near the ground, which may have been the reason for not being noticed.
