Rights group urges investigations in murder of journalist, east of Baghdad

The Iraqi Center for Supporting Freedom of Speech (Rights) has urged Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi to prope into the murder of a journalist, east of Baghdad.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the center condemned “the murder of journalist Samer Ali Shakara, an assistant videographer of Al-Hurra TV channel, east of Baghdad.”

As the center denounced the murder, “it called on Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi to conduct investigations to bring the criminals to justice swiftly.”

“The journalists of Al-Hurra in Baghdad informed the center about the murder of Samer Ali Shakara previously. His body was found at midnight,” it added.

The victims, according to the center, “was found with shots in his head in al-Qanah region, east of the capital.”

A source from the Interior Ministry affirmed the new.
