MP Sirkut Shamsul-din,
representing New Generation bloc, has said the parliament’s presidency has been
totally unsuccessful in running the session, saying the poor management has
paralyzed the parliament.
The frequent absences, interference for the sake of appearing on TV and
creating chaos sometimes prevented other members to fulfill their tasks, he
added.
The parliament’s mission is to monitor the government’s performance, however,
it lacks authorities to monitor and assess its performance, he said urging media
channels and NGOs to monitor the parliament’s performance, evaluate it and
submit these reports to committees in question.
Millions of dollars, according to Shamsul-din, were disbursed without offering
the country anything. He also criticized the delay in electing the heads of the
parliamentary committees and voting on essential bills, that could achieve
progress for the government and people.
