Reform and Reconstruction Alliance MP Mohamed al-Khalidi
on Tuesday expressed his rejection of the nomination of former Parliament Speaker Salim
al-Jabouri for the Defense Ministry.
Jabouri does not comply with the conditions put forth by Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi, the Reform MP asserted, adding that Jabouri failed to win in the previous parliamentary elections.
The information about nominating Jabouri to the Ministry of Defense in the is informal, but if he was nominated, the political blocs would have a number of objections to him, Khalidi said.
He added that Abdul Mahdi had put forth a set of conditions for the candidates, and these conditions are not met by Jubouri, who failed to win in the previous parliamentary elections.
The parliament earlier gave confidence to 19 ministers in the government of Abdul Mahdi, while the three ministries of defense, interior and justice are still vacant for differences between political blocs, mainly between Reform Alliance's Saairun and the Binna'a Coalition.
