Jordanian Prime Minister Omar al-Razzaz has described his recent visit to Iraq as “very fruitful,” saying King Abdullah II has paved the way for strong ties with Iraq through rounds of meetings and communication with the President Barham Salih and the Prime Minister Adel abdul Mahdi.

In remarks, Razzaz said the two countries agreed on boosting cooperation in fields of transportation, establishing a joint industrial zone, exempting merchandise coming from Jordan from customs, in addition to energy and electricity projects and shipping oil. They also agreed on extending oil pipeline between the two countries.

The two sides also set Feb. 2 as date for agreeing on several agreements in accordance with a timeline to carry them out.

Razzaz arrived in Baghdad Saturday in an official visit to hold talks with his Iraqi counterpart Abdul Mahdi.

The visit was the first by a high-ranking Jordanian official to Iraq since Abdul Mahdi was appointed to his post in October.
