The Iraqi Foreign Ministry denied on Friday requesting the government to exempt its ambassadors from accountability and justice procedures.

Former Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari denied recent reports claiming that he has recommended to exempt some of the ambassadors from accountability, saying they are just "false" news.

The foreign ministry confirmed Jaafari's statement, asserting that no recommendations were submitted on this regard.

"The ministry's latest actions on this regard (integrity and justice procedures) come in the context of the procedures imposed by the Integrity Commission," the ministry's statement affirmed.

Incumbent Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali al-Hakim said on Wednesday during a meeting with local media representatives that Jaafari had requested an exemption for 39 ambassadors who are under accountability and justice laws.
