General Company for Ports of Iraq (GCPI) announced on Wednesday that the revenue of the Khor al-Zubair south of
Basra amounted to 70.4 billion dinars ($59.1 million) in 2018, marking its
highest revenue since it was established.
In a statement, the General Company praised the cooperation of the management of the port and all the departments working in it, saying it is one of the reasons behind the success.
The company also stated the keenness to use modern methods of work, modernize all mechanisms and equipment used, continuously improve the depths, and clean channels and sidewalks, which were all reasons behind the increase.
Khor al-Zubair and Umm Qasr are Basra's only ports currently operating.
