The parliament's security and defense committee said
on Tuesday that the coming days will witness many "significant" changes
of people holding security posts across the country.
MP Abbas Sarwat said that the committee will take part in changing a number of operations and security leaders holding some important and sensitive positions.
"It is a big mistake for a person to remain in his position for many years; anyone who stays in office for a long time [draws] suspicions of corruption and bribery," Sarwat said.
Late in 2018, the court sentenced Iraq’s former Trade Minister Falah al-Sudani to 21 years in jail over corruption related to the country’s massive food rations program.
The Iraqi Commission of Integrity said that the arrest warrants issued in 2017 concerning integrity cases amounted to 2,133 orders, of which 996 were executed.
