Kurdish language to be taught in Iraq's schools starting next year

UNESCO to sponsor Iraqi initiative to improve education

The Iraqi Ministry of Education has decided to add the Kurdish language as a basic subject in the curriculum starting next year.

The ministry said in a statement that the Kurdish language will be taught in the primary and secondary school stages.

The statement pointed out that the Kurdish language will be considered Iraq’s second language starting from the next academic season.
