Reform and Reconstruction Alliance MP Jassim Khamat
said on Wednesday that the parliament will pass the PUK's candidate for the justice minister post.
Khamat said that the alliance will help the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) to pass its candidate to the Ministry of Justice in the next parliamentary session.
Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi seeks to introduce an independent figure as candidate for the Ministry of Justice, as the two main Kurdish powers, the PUK and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), did not reach an agreement concerning the post and did not settle on one candidate.
The prime minister's candidate cannot be passed, because the PUK will not approve him, especially since he does not have any ministerial representation.
The PUK has reiterated its adherence to being represented in the justice minister position in the new government, considering such post as an electoral entitlement.
