Iraq's pro-Iran Parliament Speaker Mohamed al-Halbousi demanded
on Monday compensation for those affected by the former regime of Saddam
Hussein, while turning a blind eye to the ongoing atrocities committed against Sunnis by the Iranian Militias in Iraq and Syria (IMIS).
This came at a press conference held on the sidelines of an exhibition in parliament for the violations and crimes committed by the former regime against Iraqi people.
Halbousi said during the conference that the current situation of Iraq is the result of the injustices that took place in the country, adding that the parliament seeks to secure a better life for all Iraqis.
"It is necessary to enact legislation to compensate those affected by these crimes and violations," Halbousi stated.
Observers in response to the call of Halbousi said that it is the demand of Iran in the first place. They added that Halbosui should have demanded compensation for the hundreds of thousands of Sunnis who have been harmed by the extended and ongoing crimes of the sectarian IMIS.
