Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi revealed on Monday that he had received a message
from the US administration regarding the withdrawal of US troops from
"The US Secretary of State told us of the withdrawal from Syria, and confirmed Washington's commitment to support Iraq," Abdul Mahdi said at a weekly conference.
He added that "Iraq enjoys good relations with all neighboring countries and with the majority of the forces in Syria," noting that "Iraq has taken precautions to counter any repercussions resulting from the withdrawal of US troops from Syria."
"The decision to withdraw from Syria has a direct impact on Iraq," he said, adding, "Iraq is an independent country, and we have not received any request for action after the US withdrawal from Syria."
