Iraq's Finance Minister Fuad Hussein issued a ministerial decree acquitting the former finance minister and six others from corruption charges against them due to lack of evidence.

The document announced acquitting Rafi al-Issawi, Deyaa al-Khayoun, al-Hussein Talal, Sami Mahdi, Saad Hamad, Atheer Abdul Razzaq.

The Iraqi Commission of Integrity said in December that the country's judiciary had sentenced former minister of finance and another official for seven years in prison over charges of "causing intentional damage to 34 million dollars of public money."

The Integrity Commission did not disclose their names, but an official source in the commission, said they are former finance minister Rafi al-Issawi and the former director of Rafidain Bank Deyaa al-Khayoun.
