Lawmaker Abdul Amir Tuaiban urged Prime
Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi to appoint female ministers in the ministries of Migration
and Education, as a support to Iraqi women’s role in the society.
“I call on the Prime Minister to assign the ministries of Migration and Education to Iraqi women, in order to enhance women role in the cabinet,” Tuaiban tweeted on Friday.
Abdul Mahdi has sent the names of alternative candidates for ministries of Displacement and Migration, and Education. The nominees for the two ministries, the only women to be nominated for cabinet positions so far, both failed on Tuesday to get enough votes.

Iraq's parliament voted on Tuesday to approve three out of five ministers put forward by Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi, ending weeks of political stagnation among the two largest parliamentary blocs. Nuri al-Dulaimi, Qusay al-Suhail and Abdul Ameer al-Hamdani were confirmed to be ministers of Planning, Higher Education and Culture.
