President Barham Salih has not planned his visit to Syria yet, the presidency spokesman, Lukman Faily asserted on Wednesday.

“We are communicating with all the neighboring countries and no arrangements have yet been made to visit the Syrian capital yet," Faily said in a press statement without further explanation.

A diplomatic source said earlier that Saleh would visit Damascus for an official visit.

Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi has decided not to leave Iraq and make any foreign visits for six months, while foreign visits will be limited to President Barham Salih during that time.

A source close to the prime minister, said, "Abdul Mahdi agreed with President Barham Salih for the latter to take responsibility for foreign visits during the first six months of the prime minister's office."

"Abdul Mahdi's decision not to travel came in order to stay in the country until completing the formation of the government in full and bringing an end to the issue of the security ministries, the interior and defense," the source added.

President Salih has so far made regional visits to Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Iran and Saudi Arabia.
