Speaker Mohamed al-Halbousi issued an official invitation to his Saudi
counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Sheikh to visit Iraq.
Halbousi
and his accompanying delegation met on Monday with Saudi Arabia's Shura Council chairman and the members of the the Saudi council as he was received in a session
for the council, according to a statement.
The
meeting discussed a number of issues of mutual concern and bilateral relations
between the two countries. The meeting also affirmed the need to activate the
work of the Iraqi-Saudi Coordination Council and parliamentary friendship
committees, the statement added.
For
his part, Halbousi called for expanding the horizons of mutual cooperation in
all fields, especially the reconstruction efforts in Iraq, by encouraging
investors and Saudi businessmen to invest in Iraq and through Saudi Arabia's support
for the reconstruction of the devastated cities after being freed from ISIS.
