Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, and Iraqi Finance Minister, Fuad Hussein, discussed on Monday with US Special Presidential Envoy for Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, Brett McGurk the bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Iraqi Finance minister received McGurk and his accompanying delegation at his office, the media office said in a statement.
During the meeting, the two parties discussed the bilateral relations between the United States and Iraq and means of its enhancement and development.
They also tackled the latest political developments on both the local and regional levels, the statement said.
Earlier, MP Ziad Janabi, head of the parliamentary bloc for the Civil Society for Reform, has urged McGurk, to apologize to the people of Iraq for the policies his country is implementing in the country.
Janabi said in a statement that McGurk has made Iraq the battleground for the US and Russia tensions, and it has led the country into ruins.
He also accused the US envoy of influencing the political process in Iraq by interfering in the government formation negotiations earlier in October prior to the appointment of Adil Abdul-Mahdi as the new Iraqi premier.
Janabi further urged Washington and Moscow to realize that the sovereignty of Iraq should remain above their goals in the region.
