Iraqi President Barham Salih stressed on
Thursday the need to develop and make use of experienced and competent engineers
in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of infrastructure in Iraq.
He affirmed that the country has engineers with high levels of expertise and competency.
Salih received at al-Salam Palace in Baghdad on Thursday the head of the Iraqi Engineers Union, Azhar Hussein, and a delegation of the union.
The meeting reviewed the work mechanism of the union and its role in the implementation of various projects in the country, according to a statement released by the media office of the Iraqi president.
The development of the capabilities of engineers is one of the priorities in the current stage to turn them into a practical reality that enriches Iraq's need in many aspects, especially the reconstruction of the liberated areas, the statement read.
For his part, the union's delegation reviewed the obstacles that impede their work. They also praised the efforts of the Iraqi president in supporting competent Iraqi people in various fields.
