Former prime minister Haidar al-Abadi turned down an offer of occupying the position of vice president, member of al-Nasr Alliance Huda Sajjad revealed on Sunday.
The MP added that Abadi’s nomination came from most of the alliance’s members and other officials in the state.
“There should be only one vice president,” Sajjad said, mentioning no reason for Abadi’s rejection.
“The House of Representatives is waiting for President Barham Salih’s candidate for a VP to vote on,” Sajjad added.
Usually، former prime ministers of Iraq are automatically appointed as vice presidents.
