Maliki's insistence on Fayyadh as interior minister will not be considered: MP

The insistence of the head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki on Faleh al-Fayyadh as a nominee for the ministry of interior affairs will not be taken into account, said Muzaffar Al Fadhl, MP from Saairun coalition on Sunday.

He asserted that Saairun coalition has no animosity with Fayyadh, but they believe that he is not suitable to take up this post as he does not have the required expertise for the ministry.

“There are conflicts between Iraqi political blocs on the rest of ministerial candidates in the cabinet of Prime Minister, Adil Abdul Mahdi,” Fadhl asserted.

Alliance MP Badr al-Zayadi said that a meeting held on Friday night between the heads of political blocs and Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi with the aim of settling on candidates for the remaining ministries before Saturday's parliamentary session.

Zayadi said that in case the meeting came out by political consensus on the candidates, the government will be voted on Saturday, otherwise the vote will be postponed until next week.

The presidency of the parliament earlier revealed that Saturday's session will not address the completion of the government, saying in a statement that the agenda includes only the completion of the vote on the amendment of the rules of procedure of the parliament.
