The nomination of Faleh al-Fayadh for the Ministry of Interior is expected to be withdrawn, upon the reservations of several political blocs, a Fatah MP predicted on Thursday.

MP Hanin al-Qadu denied that his party forced Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi to nominate Fayadh for interior ministry, saying that he chose him freely.

Most of political blocs objected to the nomination of PMU leader Faleh al-Fayadh as the new minister of interior, refusing to put a pro-Tehran person on top of the interior ministry, since al-Fayadh's alliance “al-Binna'a” is a pro-Iran.

Saairun Alliance has also expressed its opposition to the nomination of Fayadh as the minister of interior affairs.

Why do both Doha and Iran want Fayadh as interior minister?

Observers said that the situation in Iraq is going to worsen in the coming period, especially amid the insistence of Iran and Qatar on the appointment of Faleh al-Fayadh as interior minister and the objection to his nomination by Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr.
