Parliament Speake Mohamed al-Halbousi discussed on Monday with the special representative for Iraq of the United Nations Secretary-General, Jan Kubis, Iraq’s general political issues, including the parliament’s support to government’s efforts and the cooperation of the political blocs; in order to provide real steps in improving the situation of the country.

Halbousi hailed "the efforts of the United Nations in Iraq to support mechanisms and the course of democracy in the country," stressing "the importance of encouraging the United Nations investors to work in Iraq, to promote economy”.
Halbousi on Saturday congratulated the Kingdom of Bahrain on the success of the parliamentary elections during his meeting with Bahrain's Ambassador to Iraq Salah Al-Maliki, according to a statement from Halbousi's office.
Halbousi congratulated Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and the people of the kingdom on the success of the parliamentary and municipal elections.
The statement added that "during the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between Iraq and the Kingdom of Bahrain and means of developing them to enhance the interests of the two brotherly peoples, as well as the examination of a number of files at the regional level."
"Iraq is keen to maintain relations with its Arab neighbors, especially with the Kingdom of Bahrain, which is looking forward to having a role in Iraq's reconstruction phase," Halbousi said, stressing the importance of uniting Arab efforts to ensure the security and stability of the region.
