Abdul Mahdi to meet with blocs opposing cabinet candidates

Iraq's Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi is planning to meet with the blocs objecting to the candidates for the remaining ministerial portfolios, in an attempt to reach an agreement to complete the cabinet.

Binna'a Coalition MP Amer Al-Fayez said in a press statement that Abdul Mahdi was supposed to submit a group of candidates for six out the eight remaining cabinet positions during the parliament’s session, excluding the defense and interior ministries, adding that negotiators agreed that Abdul Mahdi would introduce all the remaining cabinets.

Fayez explained that the dispute surrounding the portfolio for the Ministry of the Interior has not yet been resolved, mainly over the nomination of Faleh al-Fayyad for the post.
