The United Nations and international and local humanitarian
partners said on Saturday that they had joined Iraq’s specialized agencies in
providing support to tens of thousands of victims of severe flooding in several
areas of Salah al-Din and Nineveh provinces.
The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator for Iraq said that the UN was here as always to provide support to the government in discharging its responsibilities to provide assistance to its citizens.
"We continue to support the United Nations during this emergency," she said. "We are assessing the situation to see where we can help the government of Iraq respond to these severe floods."
The region has experienced massive flooding recently, including areas of Iraq, Jordan and Kuwait.
