Al-Fayadh to take over interior ministry post: MP

Faleh al-Fayadh is believed to take over the post of interior minister in the new cabinet, MP of the National Alliance Haider al-Fawadi stated on Saturday.

“The House of Representatives will most likely vote in favor of al-Fayadh as the new Minister of Interior Affairs, due to his accumulated experience in the field of security,” al-Fawadi added.

 

Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi will announce names of the remaining eight ministers in the latest government lineup within two days, according to al-Fawadi.

On Nov. 21, Abdul Mahdi said he will submit his nominees to fill out the cabinet to parliament for approval next week.

Abdul Mahdi and 14 ministers were sworn in on Oct. 25. The parliament did not confirm the remaining eight nominees, including the interior and defense ministers that are under dispute.


He promised that the cabinet members will subject to periodic review, however, they could be dismissed if necessary.
