Kamal al-Basri, former Undersecretary of the Finance Minister, criticized on Saturday the way the state's national budget has been allocated, especially with regard to the education budget.

During talks hosted by the Rafidain Center in Najaf, Basri said that education represents only 5 percent of Iraq's budget, while 92 percent of the budget goes for salaries only.

He added that statistics indicate there is a shortage in the number of schools, while half of the existing schools are dilapidated.
