Nouri al-Maliki called on Russian companies to contribute to the development of Iraq's oil, industrial and agricultural sectors.
Maliki received Tuesday the special envoy of the Russian President to the Middle East and North Africa Mikhail Bogdanov and the accompanying delegation, Maliki's information office said in a statement.
During the meeting, they discussed regional and international developments, as well as ways to enhance relations between Iraq and Russia and to expand mutual cooperation in political, economic and military fields, the statement read.
Maliki said that Iraq managed to eliminate ISIS, hold elections and form a government, the statement read. He added that Iraq currently seeks to launch a nationwide reconstruction campaign, calling on Russian companies to contribute to the development of Iraq's agricultural, industrial and oil sectors.
Maliki also praised Russia's stances that have supported Iraq in various fields.
For his part, Bogdanov conveyed the greetings of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Maliki, stressing Russia's interest to develop its special relations with Iraq, the statement added.
