Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said he did not have enough information about a
reported suggestion of forming a regional alliance with Qatar.
News reports said earlier that the Qatari regime had urged the authorities in Baghdad to move to create a coalition of five countries. The five countries reported are Qatar, Iraq, Syria, Iran and Turkey.
Ghasemi also denied that Iraqi President Barham Salih was carrying a message from Saudi Arabia to Iran during his recent visit to Tehran. He said that the Iraqi president's visit to Iran was a very useful and constructive visit, adding that it came in the right time.
