Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi will reportedly change his list of candidates to some remaining ministers in response to the objections of political blocs, sources close to the government decision stated on Friday.
Abdul Mahdi refused to provide the remaining ministries separately as he seeks present the full list of names at once, especially after the fierce objection he faced after nominating Falih al-Fayad to the Ministry of Interior.
Tuesday's parliament session came without the remaining cabinet candidates being introduced due to Muqtada al-Sadr's objection to the Building Coalition's candidate for the post of interior minister, Faleh al-Fayad, and the Arab Project's candidate for minister of higher education, Dr. Saba Al-Taai.
The Saairun Alliance, backed by Sadr, said it would not vote for the remaining eight candidates unless these two candidates were changed. Saairun figure Ali Mahdi said in a statement that agreeing to form the government requires preventing former officials from being appointed as ministers.
