Iraq's
Supreme Judicial Council urged judges, especially in Basra, to deal with demonstrators'
lawsuits transparently, affirming the necessity to respect the right of
demonstration as guaranteed by the constitution and the law.
The
council also called for releasing demonstrators who have not been proven to
have committed acts of sabotage or attacks on private property.
Earlier in September, up to 14 security personnel were wounded in clashes with the protesters in Basra, a local source said.
