Members of the Bina (Construction) Coalition, which includes most of the factions of the sectarian IMIS, threatened to name
former IMIS head Faleh al-Fayyad, as the new interior minister, even if
political blocs including Saairun continued rejecting him.
Mohammed al-Kawtharani, a Hezbollah official, is urging the political blocs to pass Fayyad as the new minster, according to Iraqi sources.
The sources also affirmed that the Bina (Construction) Coalition, the State of Law Coalition and the Fatah Alliance insist on naming Fayyad as the interior minister under pressure from Iran and Russia, adding that Fayyad also received support from Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
