Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi received on Sunday a phone call from Iran's First-Vice
President, Eshaq Jahangiri.
Jahangiri congratulated Abdul Mahdi over the formation of the government, stressing that Iraq is a role model in democracy for the region's countries, Abdul Mahdi's press office said in a statement.
The Iranian official expressed Iran's appreciation of Abdul Mahdi's long experience, affirming the importance of such experience in helping Iraq to overcome the current obstacles facing it.
For his part, the Iraqi Prime Minister, discussed with Jahangiri the special relations with Iran, according to the statement, affirming the necessity to exchange visits and hold consecutive discussions to strengthen relations, and resolve issues of mutual concern.
