Iraqi new Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi on Sunday called on Iraqi forces to stay alert and track terrorist cells in Iraq.
During a security meeting with military leaders at the headquarters of the Joint Operations Command, Abdul-Mahdi stressed the importance of securing the Iraqi-Syrian border from the threats of ISIS.
The security gathering took place in order to follow up on the security measures that the government is implementing to security the Arbaeen ceremony in Karbala.
A statement by Mahdi’s office said Mahdi stressed the importance of maintaining efforts, vigilance, and perseverance to keep track of terrorist cells and secure the borders. “Considering the situation, we have a common enemy in Syria and must fully secure our borders.”
