Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General (SRSG) for Iraq Ján Kubiš said he was disappointed that women were not yet represented in the new government.

He stressed in a press release that there are good women who have qualifications and experience in political life, professional positions and civil society, which makes them strong candidates to fill many ministerial posts.

The United Nations welcomed the formation of the new government of Adil Abdul Mahdi, expressing the hope that the entire cabinet will be approved as soon as possible.

Kubiš said that the new government must work hard to meet the aspirations of the Iraqi people in strengthening security, law and discipline besides providing public services, renew the country's economy, and create the conditions required for the return of the displaced people."
