Satar al-Atabi, a member of Muqtada
al-Sadr's Saairun Alliance, warned against a plan to cause Adil Abdul Mahdi's
government to collapse through the proposal of a secret ballot.
In a statement, Atabi said that some political blocs are trying to make Wednesday's meeting a secret ballot, with the aim of causing the government to collapse so they could place partisan members in the next government.
He warned that any government that would be formed through a secret ballot will fail sooner or later, especially since the secret ballot is illegal, according to the Article 53 of Iraq's constitution.
Atabi expressed hope that the vote on the cabinet will take place publicly in order for the political process to succeed, especially as the Iraqi masses are keenly and closely watching the formation process of the government.
