A leader in the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Rezan Sheikh Delir, said disagreements between PUK and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) will not affect the Kurdistan region.
Delir added in a statement that PUK is ready to end the dispute with KDP, which sparked after PUK’s candidate Barham Salih was chosen as Iraq’s new president.
“If KDP refused PUK’s invitation to resolve the dispute, our role in the government will remain unaffected,” Delir added.
In Dec. 2016, Delir made a statement saying the state of harmony among political parties will turn into disputes once elections are held.
She cited previous failed initiatives to achieve national reconciliation in the country, stressing that she seeks new solutions to "protect the people from the swamp, where they are now."
