The Yezidi Development Party warned Sunday about the Iranian Militias in Iraq and Syria (IMIS) in Sinjar and other Yezidi-populated areas, saying that the Shiite militias are abducting civilians.
The party further warned that the Iranian-backed militias currently have full control over Sinjar, a district in Iraqi Kurdistan.
An official statement by the party said the militias are abducting and torturing civilians.
In 2014, tens of thousands of members of the Yazidi religious minority, facing genocide from ISIS, escaped to the mountain from the town of Sinjar and surrounding villages in northern Iraq.
Almost every family in Sinjar has had relatives captured by ISIS and IMIS. Of the more than 6,000 Yazidis kidnapped, almost half are still missing and many presumed dead.
