Independent technocratic government unlikely to be formed: KDP's Mirani

The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) headed by Massoud Barzani said that an independent technocratic government is unlikely to be formed successfully.

KDP Politburo head Fazil Mirani said in a press statement that parties who participated and won the elections seek to participate in the government and the upcoming decision-making process in Iraq.

Mirani added that the Kurds think they have the right to assume posts in the new cabinet, including the deputy prime minister, and a sovereign ministry.

"The Kurds also see the need to form a federal council and a strategic policy council, to monitor the executive performance of the government, as well as the parliament," added Mirani.
