On Thursday, the Supreme Judicial Council organized a seminar to discuss the draft e-marriage contract, which is expected to be launched in the country's personal courts. The seminar was held in the presence of the head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faik Zaidan.

A statement issued by the media center of the Supreme Judicial Council said that "the Department of Information Technology and Systems held a seminar in the presence of the head of the Supreme Judicial Council Faik Zaidan and the heads of the appeals courts in Baghdad Karkh, Rusafa, Najaf and Diyala to discuss the draft electronic marriage contract and its application in personal status courts."

"This project includes the transaction of the marriage contract electronically by the citizen through withdrawing an electronic form of the contract through a link on the official website of the Supreme Judicial Council," the statement added.

According to the statement, the e-marriage contract project is fully completed and is expected to launch soon, aiming to reduce the traffic in the courts, ease the suffering of citizens during the reviews, and reduce the effort and time needed for such documents. This project is among the steps Iraq is taking to establish a more efficient e-government.
