Slovakia to help train Iraqi forces

Slovakia’s government has approved a plan to send up to 42 soldiers to Iraq in 2019 to help train Iraqi security forces as part of NATO’s mission in Iraq, the Slovakian defense ministry, according to AP.

The ministry added that its troops will cooperate with other NATO forces from Italy and the United States.

The Slovakian soldiers will not engage in combat, the ministry clarified, but will instead serve in an advisory role for the Iraqi forces in their fight against ISIS.

Earlier this year, Slovakia had sent 25 troops to Iraq under the same mission.
