The Iraqi High Commission for Human Rights (IHCHR) announced on Wednesday that 2,265 civilians' bodies have been exhumed in the province of Nineveh since the expulsion of ISIS until mid-October 2018.

IHCHR member Fadhil al-Gharawi said in a statement that ISIS, during its occupation of Nineveh, committed crimes against humanity against the Iraqi people, especially in the old city of Mosul, having bombed residential houses and executed unarmed civilians, including women and children.

Gharawi added that the civil defense teams in Nineveh province have retrieved more than 2,265 bodies, including the remains of 851 children.

According to documented reports, 1,871 unidentified bodies have been exhumed.
