KDP leader warns against ignoring his party in next gov't formation

Ardalan Noureddine

A leader from the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Ardalan Noureddine, warned on Wednesday against ignoring his party in the anticipation government formation, stressing that this will not bring positive results.

Noureddine stated that KDP won the majority of seats in the election and can not be excluded from the ministerial representation.

"We are waiting for Adil Abdul Mahdi's visit to Arbil to discuss with him the positions that will assigned to the party in the next government," Noureddine added.

Iraq's new President Barham Saleh has named veteran Shia Islamist politician Adel Abdul Mahdi as prime minister-designate. The Iraqi constitution grants Mahdi 30 days to form his new government.
