Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan expressed the hope that all Iraqi
leaders would work to form a new Iraqi government in order to begin its tasks
on time and in accordance with the Iraqi constitution.
This came during a meeting between Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani and a high-level US delegation headed by Sullivan in Erbil.
During the meeting, Sullivan offered his congratulations to Barzani on the occasion of the success of the election process of the Kurdistan parliament and victory over ISIS.
Sullivan also confirmed US support for the Kurdistan Region and called for the continuation of dialogue between Erbil and Baghdad to solve the problems and achieve security and economic cooperation.
US Ambassador to Iraq Douglas Silliman and Erbil Consul General Steve Fagin also attended the meeting.
