MP of the National Forces Alliance, Yahya Ithawi, stressed on Monday the importance of the presence of the international coalition forces in Iraq, pointing out terrorism is still present and may return.
"If we eliminated ISIS, we will ask the international coalition to leave the country especially after our forces eradicate all terrorism from the country,” he said.
He added the country is now in a stage of constitutional vacuum as the government is not yet formed, stressing that it will take about a year to solve all security issues.
A large-scale military operation was launched on Monday to hunt down militants of ISIS terrorist group.
Joint forces of the Iraqi army and police and three brigades of the Iranian Militias in Iraq and Syria (IMIS) are participating in the operation.
The Iraqi troops are recurrently launching operations to hunt down the remnants of ISIS militants across the country.
