Major General Mohammad Bagheri, chief of staff of Iran’s
armed forces, has threatened the the Kurdistan region and Iraq’s federal government
in Baghdad, calling on them to control what he called "anti-revolutionary factions" against Iran.
Bagheri said that the security of the Iranian people is an issue that cannot be abandoned, pointing out that the neighboring countries, including Iraq and the Kurdistan region, are obliged to intervene against the anti-revolutionary factions in accordance with international law and neighborly duties.
He added that "the headquarters of the anti-revolutionary groups and those who harbor ill-intent for the Iranian people should not be near our borders or in neighboring countries," reiterating that "the Kurdistan region and the Iraqi central government are obliged to control these factions."
